The Eagles have officially re-signed center/guard combo Stefen Wisniewski to a 3 year deal reportedly worth $9 million with incentives up to $15 million according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. While we don’t know exactly what the incentives are, I’d be willing to bet they have quite a bit to to with the number of games started.
Wisniewski, who turns 28 later this month, was originally brought in on a 1 year, $1.5 million deal, played in 12 games and started 6 of them as Lane Johnson served his 10 game ban.
With the return of Wisniewski, the signing of Chance Warmack yesterday, and the January signings of interior linemen Dallas Thomas and Josh LeRibeus, it appears that Jason Kelce may have seen his last days in midnight green.
With a 2017 cap hit of $6.2 million, along with his recent decline, the Eagles may be looking to move on from the 2 time Pro-Bowler, saving $3.8 million.
It remains to be seen what happens over next few weeks leading up to the draft but it appears Howie Roseman isn’t opposed to making a few splashes to get his team back into the playoffs.
